Ah! The air is getting crisper, cheeks and noses are getting redder and Slade's annual refrain is ringing in all our ears. Tis the season to be jolly, overindulge in something mulled and run around like a lunatic until the very last minute, making sure that you’ve picked up the Lynx Africa set for Uncle Frank that you see once a year.
Only in Bristol would a freak show and circus seem like the perfect way to set yourself up for goodwill to all mankind, so it’s a great job that’s where we are!
It’s Friday the 22nd of December and you are now finally prepared for the next two weeks. How should you celebrate? By getting your ass to Lakota and immersing yourself in the spectacle that is Festival of Freaks!
The carnival atmosphere is one of utter joy, decadence and celebration and won’t fail to stretch your mouth across your teeth. Decorated to transport you to the Victorian spectacles of times past you will be surrounded by the bizarre, the bemusing and the beautifully breathtaking. Stilt walkers dressed as dolls will stalk the floor as you look on bewildered and mesmerised by Britain’s bendiest woman. Fire performers will delight with their juggling and breathy plumes of flame as sword swallowers baffle your brain.
With the soundtrack to your night coming from the likes of down and dirty ghetto funk breaks from Howla and thumping drums of Stirzaka the night will be full of drum n bass, electronic, funk and house so there won’t be any lack of motivation to slink across the dancefloor to join your fellow freaks. In fact, why not stop off at the facepainter on the way so you can be absorbed in the throng of outsiders and all become one as slaves to the night?
This one off club night is produced by Valerian Entertainment who have a track record in producing nights of the strange, twisted and bizarre. Only in September did they put on the FreakShow FunkHouse in Loco Klub. By combining a banging soundtrack, clubnight drinks prices and no shortage of spectacle including interactive characters and decoration which includes confetti canons; Festival of Freaks is a sure fire way to round off your year.
Doors open at 10:30pm and the crew will be there for your entertainment right through to 4:00am .
